After spending several months in Japan to serve as a sparring partner of World Boxing Organization (WBO) world super flyweight king Naoya Inoue, Omega Boxing Gym’s Jason Canoy “Dillinger” Manigos finally got a big break as he is set to fight another dangerous Japanese champion on February 8 in Tokyo, Japan.

The 27-year old Manigos, one of Omega Boxing Gym’s top prospect, will face WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion Hiroaki Teshigawara at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI) vice president Jerome Calatrava told Cebu Daily News that they formally signed the contract for the Manigos-Teshigawara fight.

Manigos was in Japan in the last three months of 2017 to be one of Inoue’s sparring partners. For him, it was a worthy experience sparring with a top caliber world boxing champion such as Inoue, who is preparing for his seventh title defense against French Yoann Boyeaux.

Manigos believes the experience of sparring against Inoue will help boost his confidence against Teshigawara.

Manigos holds a record of 27 wins (19 by knockouts), seven losses and two draws. He is one of Omega Boxing Gym’s top road warriors for having fought in several countries. This will be his second fight in Japan. His first one was in 2015, when he lost to Hinata Maruta via unanimous decision.

He was able to fight in Russia, South Africa, Thailand and Ukraine.

Teshigawara, meanwhile, already beat two Filipino boxers, Junny Salogaol and Jetro Pabustan. He has a record of 15 wins (nine knockouts) coupled with two defeats and two draws.
