The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7) ordered a halt to the construction of the mall in N. Bacalso Ave. in Barangay Pahina-Central, Cebu City, after three workers were injured on site.
DOLE-7 Information Officer Luchel Taniza said their investigation of the incident showed that the construction company Metro Dyna Build Inc. (MDBI) lacked an Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) certificate.
“During the investigation, we don’t see any proof or documents present in the work site,” she said in a phone interview. Taniza said there was no accredited safety practitioner present in the site.
“We will be having a mandatory conference and we will give them time to present their side,” Taniza said.
Construction workers Noel Montaño, Ricky Catubig, and Apolonio Pardillo sustained minor injuries after they fell while working on a steel bar on the second floor of the structure last Thursday.
