Tenants of Ayala Center Cebu are allowed to enter the mall tomorrow to conduct clean up of their stores, according to a mall tenant, who requested anonymity.
CDN got the tip from tenants of a nearby building who saw that lights were on inside the main mall.
The tenant, who has a store inside the Ayala mall, said they received the advisory from Cebu Holdings Inc. (CHI), the company which operates Ayala Center Cebu, at around 5:00 p.m. today. The advisory said the announcement is not for public release.
“We were told that our store was not affected at all and that we can clean up tomorrow. We are not sure if we can open on Sinulog day because in crisis situations like this, we prepare for the worst,” said the tenant.
The tenant said the mall management has not given them a definite date as to when the mall will open. This is understandable because of the safety measures that needs to be considered for the benefit of the public.
The tenant said they learned that mall tenants, who are in the food business, were allowed to enter three days ago to clean up.
Other tenants, in areas of the mall which did not get wet when firefighters responded to fire, were advised to clean up tomorrow (January 16).
The source said they had goods, valued between P5 to P6 million, inside the Metro Store.
“We had an emergency meeting today when we learned that we cannot yet come in to clean up. But we learned around 5 p.m. that we can come in. We are glad of this development. This is a ray of light at the end of the tunnel,” the source said.
