The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Visayas, headed by commissioner Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez, held the second PSC Children’s Games outside Cebu this month in Bohol.

The PSC Children’s Games was in Tagbilaran City, Bohol yesterday and with around 600 children taking part in the one-day sports and fun activity intended to introduce children to engaging sports.

Fifteen barangays took part in the activity that was held at the Holy Name University. The event will last until today.

PSC Visayas opened 2018 with a successful staging of the Children’s Games in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental last January 14, which drew more than a hundred kids aged nine to 12 years.

In his short speech, commissioner Fernandez welcomed the children and parents present and thanked the local government unit of Tagbilaran City for showing full support to their program.

“We at the PSC are happy to be here in Tagbilaran. Thanks to the local government and the Mayor for their assistance and cooperation,” said Fernandez. “The PSC wants to reach as many children as possible with this program.”

Fernandez commended PSC Chairman Butch Ramirez for creating the Children’s Games in reply to the marching orders of President Rodrigo Duterte to bring sports to the countryside and engage the children in play and movement.

Mayor Baba Yap of Tagbilaran City graced the event to show his support.

Basic skills training in popular sports like volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis and table tennis, traditional and parlor games were enjoyed by the participants.

Fernandez oversees PSC activities in the Visayas and has scheduled a total of 50 legs of the Children’s Games in the region.
