THE CEBU Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) will hold its first monthly tournament of the year on January 28 at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.
The tournament will have two categories with different playing times. Category A has a five-minute playing time while category B will have 15 minutes. Each category will play five rounds using a unified handicapping format.
Cepca official Jun Olis said Cepca president Engr. Jerry Maratas and National Master (NM) Rogelio Enriquez Jr. will lead the list of participants.
Other entries include Ben Dimaano, Peterson Sia, Zilverstein Torres, Richard Ouano, Joe Atillo, Manny Abucay, Vince dela Torre, Laila Nadera, Jerish Velarde and former grand finals champion Jun Kidlat.
The champion wood pusher will take home P1,500.
Registration fee is pegged at P200 for the regular players and P100 for both the ladies and kiddie participants.
