Number coding scheme seen as solution to address Metro Cebu’s traffic gridlock

Capitol’s Focal Person on Traffic Management Jonathan “Joy” Tumulak recommended to establish a number coding scheme among private vehicles.

The scheme will limit the number of vehicles which will be allowed to travel on a specific day.

The number coding scheme is presently enforced by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Based on the data of the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO- 7), there are about 181,000 newly registered vehicles in Cebu in 2017.

“Mas maayo unta nga dunay proper consultation sa tanang sectors kon pananglitan I implement ni tungod kay daghan pamaagi sa pagcontrol sa traffic (It is better if there would be a proper consultation among all sectors if this will be implemented. There area lot of ways to manage the traffic).,” Tumulak said.
