First teaser of ‘Miss Granny’ excites fans

Sarah Geronimo

FANS of Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo got excited when Viva Films released the first teaser of her upcoming film, “Miss Granny” last Friday, April 20.

The teaser introduced the character of Nova Villa as a grumpy and troublemaker grandmother of James Reid’s character.

Reid’s mother, portrayed by Lotlot De Leon, then expresses her disappointment over Reid, saying she has already sacrificed so much for him but he only wants to be a musician.

Contrary to De Leon, Villa stands up for her grandson’s dream.

Villa then shouts at De Leon, “Wag mong ganyanin ang apo ko ha! Dami mong dakdak!”

One day, De Leon gets confined in the hospital and she tells her husband played by Nonie Buencamino that she may die because of his mom (Villa).

Buencamino is told by the doctor that her wife needs to be stress-free.

“So ang sinasabi mo na mamili ako between my mother and my wife?” Buencamino asks.

A disappointed Villa then walks out of the hospital. She passes by a photo studio named Forever Young Portrait Studio and enters it.

“Magpapa-picture ako bago pumangit. Hindi naman pwede na pangit ang picture ko na i-di-display sa burol,” Villa says.

After her photograph is taken, Villa regains her youthful appearance and emerges as Geronimo.

An adaptation of a 2014 Korean movie, “Miss Granny” is directed by Joyce Bernal and produced by Viva Films. No playdate has been announced yet.

The original Korean film starred Shim Eun-Kyung and is about a 74-year-old woman who finds herself in the body of a 20-year old lady.

“Miss Granny” is Geronimo’s first film with Reid and Xian Lim.

Geronimo’s last big screen project was “Finally Found Someone” in 2017, opposite perennial screen partner John Lloyd Cruz.
