PAGADIAN City – A radio blocktimer here was killed in an ambush in Labangan town, Zamboanga del Sur province.
Marive Jongco, provincial information officer, said Carlos Matas was killed in the ambush that took place in Barangay Nuburan past 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Labangan police confirmed receiving the same information but declined to provide details as investigators were still proceeding to the area.
The Inquirer learned that it was the second ambush on Matas in a week.
On Tuesday, armed men also fired on him as he was traveling with his driver and an escort in Labangan.
Aside from hosting a paid program, Matas also act as coordinator for a group of cassava farmers in the province.
