If declared as winners, the proclamation of nine disqualified Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) bets in Central Visayas may be suspended.
The COMELEC Central Office earlier released a memorandum containing the names of candidates who can be disqualified due to ineligibility.
“That is just a mere suspension of proclamation if they will win,” Commission on Elections in Central Visayas (COMELEC-7) Director Veronico Petalcorin said.
In Cebu, there are two disqualified candidates from Medellin town; and one from Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Santander town.
There are two disqualified candidates from Negros Oriental, and another two from Bohol.
Petalcorin also explained to Cebu Daily News in a phone interview that the COMELEC Commission En Banc is the final arbiter in cases where candidates are proclaimed despite their disqualification.
The regional director added that the candidate who received the second highest number of votes will assume the position of the disqualified candidate.
