Cebu Province, USC are inaugural champions in Cebu City Mayor’s Cup volleyball

Cebu Province and the University of San Carlos (USC) emerged inaugural champions in the Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Open Volleyball Tournament after beating their respective finals opponents on Wendesday at the USC gym.

Cebu Province defeated the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma iConnect, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14, to bag the men’s title while USC escaped the Cebu Spikers Volleyball Club (CSVC), 25-18, 25-22, 16-25, 19-25, 15-10, for the women’s crown.

Most Valuable Players (MVP) of the tournament were Cebu Province’s Norvie Labuga (men’s MVP) and USC’s Julia Garcia (women’s MVP).

Third placer in the men’s side was the University of San Jose-Recoletos, which defeated USC, 25-12, 25-15, 19-25, 25-18. Mandaue City toppled University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 23-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-15, to bag the bronze in the women’s side.
