Comelec declares end of election period

Policemen are stationed at a Comelec checkpoint in Manila as candidates for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections file their
certificates of candidacy early this month.

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has formally ended the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

In a statement on Monday, the poll body said that the ban on bearing, carrying and transporting of firearms and other deadly weapons and the “availment” or engagement of the services of security personnel or bodyguards would be lifted at 12 midnight.

“Comelec checkpoints likewise cease operations at 12 midnight today,” it said.

In addition, the Comelec reminded everyone who filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) in this year’s village polls to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenses (SOCE) on or before June 13.

“Win or lose, all candidates must file SOCE within thirty days after the day of the elections in accordance with Chapter IV, Section 16 to 18 of Resolution No. 10209,” the Comelec said.
