THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) added another title to their crowded trophy case as they won the championship in the Under-15 division of the Cebu Youth Basketball League Summer League 2018 after destroying the Ateneo de Cebu 2, 77-38, in the finals earlier this week at the Talisay Sports Complex.
The game was relatively close, with UV up by a scant seven points, 26-19, at halftime.
However, the Baby Lancers quickly employed their frenetic full court pressure defense that forced their opponents into committing turnovers that got turned into easy baskets.
When the dust settled, UV outscored Ateneo de Cebu, 28-12, in the third canto and established a 54-31 lead that paved the way for their title conquest.
Denisvee Sinoy led UV with 14 points while Selwyn Wagwag pitched in 13 markers in the win that further solidified the Baby Lancers’ lofty standing as the region’s grassroots basketball kings.
Nobody managed to score in double-figures for the boys in blue with Uriel Avila leading the way with nine points for Ateneo de Cebu.
