An official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) was shot dead by still unidentified men on board a motorcycle just meters away from the Cebu Provincial Capitol in Cebu City this afternoon, July 27.
The fatality was identified as Earl Rallos, PDEA-7 assistant chief of operations and a former media practitioner in Cebu, according to a report released by the Fuente Police Station (Station 2) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), which has jurisdiction over the area.
Rallos was declared dead on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds on his body, according to the report.
Initial police investigation showed that Rallos was on board his grey Toyota Altis when motorcycle-riding assailants peppered his vehicle with bullets at around 5:10 p.m. while his vehicle was traversing the narrow Villalon Street, near the May Flower Pension House, located on a side road just beside the Capitol compound.
Police recovered from the crime scene 15 empty shells of a still undisclosed caliber of firearms.
The police were also looking into the CCTV cameras mounted in the area to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the attack.
