CLOSE to a thousand residents of Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City benefited from the medical mission conducted by around 150 Chinese nationals last July 26, 2018 at the Paknaan gymnasium.
The Chinese nationals led by Pastor Gavin Toh came from a religious group, Hope of God, a Christian Church that was started in Hong Kong in 1992.

They have been to the country since 2010, conducting around 16 medical missions in the different areas in Luzon and the Visayas.

The group, together with seven volunteer doctors and 35 volunteer nurses from local partners, gave free medical and eye consultations, eyeglasses, medicines and vitamins, haircut, and counseling to the beneficiaries. They also extended financial assistance to some deserving families and individuals.

A day before the Paknaan mission, the group also conducted a similar activity for the residents of Barangay Umapad in Mandaue.

From Mandaue City, the group, along with their local counterpart called the “Care Group” proceeded to Barangay Buanoy in Balamban, southwest Cebu and Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City, Cebu to also hold a medical mission there.

Paknaan Councilor Marissa Ulgasan expressed gratitude to the Chinese nationals for choosing their barangay as their beneficiary.
