Davies Paints, MetroTiles and ACC LightStrong all claimed wins at the start of the Cebu Architects’ Basketball Club 2nd Corporate Cup last weekend at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Davies edged Phelps Dodge, 83-79, as veteran forward Montecristo had 24 points and 11 rebounds to help them come from behind and get the victory. Guards Kimkim Rebosura and Criz Matunog each had 19 markers as well.
MetroTiles, meanwhile, destroyed Boysen Paints, 82-51, as prolific wingman Mike Cinco tallied 28 points. Darren Morandante backed him up with 11 points, three boards, four assists and two steals.
ACC LightStrong held Econtech to just 18 points in the entire second half to come away with a 62-56 win. ACC trailed, 28-38, at halftime but tightened the clamps on their defense in the last 20 minutes to pull off the victory.
Four players scored in double-figures for ACC led by the MVP of the last conference, Brian Acebedo, who had 13 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, four steals and three blocked shots.
