CEBUANA junior triathlon sensation Moira Frances Erediano added a feather to her cap as she won the women’s open division title of the 16th Annual Tour Ni Frank over the weekend.
The 13-year-old Erediano, a member of the Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team and the Organique Triathlon team, outraced more experienced opponents in the 10-kilometer grueling uphill cycling event to bag the crown.
She bested her teammate Rue Reinhardt Pañibon of Team Organique Triathlon who settled for second place. She also outraced her other teammate Pamela Jane Ruiz of Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team who placed third in the division.
The race was timely for the Lapu-Lapu City native Erediano, who is a member of the Philippine triathlon team’s developmental pool, as she is set to compete for Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in this weekend’s Milo Little Olympics.
According to her father, Fritz Erediano, Moira will be competing in athletics and swimming.
The elder Erediano, though, said they are planning to focus more in the swimming competition since this is a crucial leg in the sport of triathlon.
A total of 103 cyclists joined the uphill race last Sunday that started at the JY Square in Barangay Lahug and ended at the Tops Road in Barangay Busay.
Other winners were Melvin Cadoy (Under 23), Alvin dela Torre (U39), Jeger dela Calsada (40 above) and Ronnie Adlawan (50 above).
