Run for a cause set on Sept. 16

A GROUP of Cebuana teachers specializing in “English as Second Language” (ESL) will hold a running event for a cause on September 16 dubbed NVOIM Cebu’s First Race For Children’s Hunger.

The race will start and finish at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.

NVOIM, a well established Korean-owned ESL company situated along A.C Cortes Avenue in Mandaue City, has several ESL teachers active in running. These runners decided to use their passion in the sport to help less fortunate children.

NVOIM aims to feed 1,000 kids currently residing at the grounds of the dilapidated Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Mandaue City.

The race is also held in line with the celebration of the NVOIM’s eighth anniversary. The three distances in the race are three-kilometer, 5k, and 10k.
“Our team leaders were runners and we saw them post their achievements. We thought that it was really fulfilling for them so we decided to join running as well. We came up with an idea of having a run for a cause and also to raise social awareness to Cebuanos,” said Klien Kerr Zenoroza, NVOIM’s operations head in a press conference yesterday at the City Social Welfare Services office in Mandaue City.

She was joined by NVOIM officers’ Venus Manriquez, Res Gurrea, Agnes Baring, Georgia Corrigedor, and Carolyn Ondoy. Also present was race director Joel Baring.

Registration fees are P350 for the 3k, P550 for the 5k, and P700 for the 10k.
