CEBUANO poomsae and kyurogi (sparring) jins of the S.T.A.R. Taekwondo team put up an impressive performance in the 2018 National Inter-School Taekwondo Championships which ended last Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
The S.T.A.R. team of renowned poomsae coach Glenn Lava hauled in a total of four golds, seven silvers, and three bronze medals in the tournament.
Leading the way for the team is Kirk Gonzalez and Edison Libor, who bagged a gold each in the male seniors’ individual category.
Hanifah Oswa and Alyssa Llenes, meanwhile, managed a silver medal finish in the female seniors action.
Oswa and Troy Cuyos then completed the four-gold haul for the team as they ruled over in the seniors and grade school kyurogi competitions, respectively.
Libor and Oswa are from the Exceed Learning Center (ELC) while Gonzales and Cuyos are from St. Cecilia’s College (SLC).
The trio of Francis Arquerro, Micah Torres, and Llenes of the University of San Carlos fell short in their campaign and settled for a silver medal in the junior team category.
The grade school team of Niño Cabanig, Kim Carcueva, and Cuyos, meanwhile, salvaged a bronze medal in the grade school team poomsae event.
