The Dreamscape Lions padded their incredible winning streak to 11 games after besting the Tech Mahindra Mighties, 81-62, in the Evo League of the 2018 Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball on Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu.
The King Lion, Ralph Belarmino, was unstoppable in that game as he ripped the Mighties’ defense to pieces, scoring 40 points and tallied 18 rebounds, three assists and six steals in an astounding show of force. Jake Cainday was equally impressive as he too had a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss dropped Tech Mahindra to third place in the standings at 7-3 (win-loss).
The Kyocera Frontiers, meanwhile, kept their grip of second place with an 85-65 beating of the Cognizant Gladiators.
Four players scored in double-digits for Kyocera led by former University of Cebu guard Matthew Grafilo who had 19 points and Ariel Edera who posted all-around numbers of 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Cognizant fell further down to 3-7.
In the Elite Classic, the Converters improved to 8-3 with a 114-73 thrashing of the Telstra Boomerangs. Jaime Pacquiao led the way for the Converters with 25 points and eight rebounds, while former Jose Rizal University standout, Jay-R Bulangis, had 15 markers.
Telstra remained winless in 11 games this season.
The ePerformax Reds were also victorious, beating the Wipro Tigers, 70-64, to improve to 4-7. Big man Robert Gilo imposed himself inside, scoring 21 points and hauling down 16 rebounds to carry the team to their fourth win in 11 tries. Wipro fell to 2-6.
