THE House of Representatives recently honored Miss Tourism International 2013 Angeli Dione Gomez during her courtesy visit to Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr.
Belmonte handed to Gomez a copy of House Resolution 686 commending and congratulating Gomez for winning the Miss Tourism International 2013 beauty pageant held in Putrajaya, Malaysia last December 31, 2013.
“Our prayers and good wishes coming from all House members are going to her for her success,” said the Speaker. He said Gomez’s win further provided pride, honor, and inspiration to the country, which is still reeling from the effects of several devastating typhoons.
Gomez, who was accompanied to the Office of the Speaker by fellow Cebuana Rep. Gwen Garcia, author of House Resolution 686, Parañaque Rep. Eric Olivarez and Mutya ng Pilipinas administrative manager Vicky Bugayong, thanked the House of Representatives for warmly welcoming her and honoring her with the approval of HR 686. She vowed to do her best during her reign so the country would remain proud of her.
Last January 22, the House led by the Speaker also gave recognition to 2013 Miss International Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Supranational Mutya Johanna Fontiveros Datul and Miss Universe third runner-up Ariella Arida.
The Speaker said the successive victories of Filipino women in different international beauty pageants, including that of Gomez, lured worldwide attention to the attractiveness of the country itself.
“Without a question, the phenomenal successes of our candidates in beauty pageants abroad and our Miss Tourism International certainly help people take note of our country. When they take note of our winners, they also take note of our country then they see that indeed, we are a terrific destination,” the Speaker said in a press statement.
