A 30-year-old Boholana who was in Cebu City for a medical check-up was gunned down while aboard a taxi in barangay Tinago shortly before noon last Saturday.
Jenny Palar, a resident of barangay Kaputohan, Tubigon, Bohol, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Her companion Jessa Traya was wounded in the left arm.
Jessa’s husband Wilfredo was unhurt.
Police said the three arrived in Cebu City last Wednesday and were scheduled to leave for Bohol after Palar had her cyst in her neck checked.
While in Cebu City, the three stayed in a pension house in R. Landon Street, barangay San Antonio.
PO2 Brian Baylon, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office, said the three boarded an Ishen taxi with plate number GXT-388 on
their way to the pier.
The attack happened while the taxi was waiting for the traffic light to turn green on V. Sotto Street.
A motorcycle driven by a man who was wearing a bonnet stopped beside the taxi. The assailant then fired shots at the back of the taxi where Palar and Jessa were seated.
Palar suffered gunshot wounds in the chest, right arm and forehead.
The assailant sped off after the attack.
Police brought Palar to the Cebu City Medical Center where she later died.
Police recovered five empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.
Palar’s friends told police that they didn’t anyone who harbored a grudge against the victim.
