LAPU-Lapu City Hall bagged six awards including the Most Outstanding Local Government Unit for Local Health System given by the regional Department of Health (DOH-7) last Nov. 15.
Acting City Health Officer Dr. Agnes Cecile Realiza said the awards, which were given during the DOH Regional Health Summit Awards event, will motivate the city government to provide better quality health service to their constituents.
The city was recognized as a top performing LGU in health initiatives such as child immunization, contraceptive prevalence rate, health care and increased budget for health last year.
Lapu-Lapu City also has the highest percentage of infants exclusively breastfed (from zero to six months old.
For these efforts, Lapu-Lapu City received a cash prize of P300,000 which Realiza said they will use to fund their health services.
