GREEN AND GO FOR UV IN PCCL

The three-time defending Cesafi champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers are pushing through with their participation in the 2018 Philippine Collegiate Champions League President’s Cup.

This was confirmed by the team’s manager, Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, who initially criticized the organizers for what he deemed as unfair treatment for provincial teams like the Green Lancers.

However, things have apparently been smoothed over and the Green Lancers will be heading to Davao to compete in the Visayas-Mindanao Regional Championship on December 5 in Davao City.

UV head coach Gary Cortes assured the team’s supporters that the Green Lancers are prepared to do battle in spite of the hurdles that they have had to overcome heading to this version of the PCCL.

“Our preparation for the PCCL is like a roller coaster ride, it’s going up and down, but the team is physically, mentally and emotionally prepared, no matter what, we will be going there to compete against whatever teams, and try our very best to represent the Cesafi in the national finals,” said the fiery head coach.

This is the fourth straight time that Cortes has steered UV to this stage and he chided that the team is due for a break.

“Syaro ug di ni ma pul-an ug kapuyon ug likay likay ni nga championship trophy namo,” Cortes said with a laugh.
