Local football powerhouse teams Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) and Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) showed their strength in the 11th Thirsty Football Cup, winning titles yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
Leading yesterday’s winners was SHS-AdC, which emerged the best team in the boys’ under-13.
The Magis Eagles beat the heavily favored Philippine youth team lineup of the Global Elite Football Club, 2-1, in a shootout for the crown.
In the mixed under-11 division, DBTC’s Team E escaped Guiseppe FC, 2-1, to win the title.
SHS-AdC’s John Veloso was named MVP in the boys’ U-13 while Paul Mapula was handed the same award in the mixed U-11.
In other games, the visiting ERCO Korea, Leylam FC’s team A and B and San Roque Rehab continued to advance as they to reached the quarterfinal round in the men’s division.
San Roque Rehab already has a 2-2(win-draw) record in group 1, tied with Montecarlo FC.
ERCO Korea, meanwhile, has three wins and a draw followed by Birada FC Team B with three wins in group 2.
Leylam FC Team A and B currently leads groups three and four, respectively, toting 3-1 (win-draw) and 4-0 (win-loss) records.
The boys’ under-18, ladies open and the men’s open games are still being played as of this writing.
