Lapu-Lapu police chief aims for Olango Island’s barangays to be drug-cleared this year

Lapu-Lapu Police Office Director Limuel Obon

CEBU CITY, Philippines — All barangays in Olango Island will be drug-cleared within the year.

Senior Superintendent Limuel Obon, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) chief, told Cebu Daily News Digital in a phone interview on February 12 that this would be one of the office’s goals for the year as they were already working on the necessary documents for the Olango Island barangays to be declared as drug-free.

But Obon is thankful, because he has seen the coordination and support of residents of Olango Island in this endeavor.

The Island of Olango consists of eight barangays and three islet barangays.

He said that they were coordinating with the City Government of Lapu-lapu and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) so that they could comply with all the necessary documents for such declaration.

Obon is also encouraging barangay officials to coordinate with the Department of Health (DOH) in creating a community-based rehabilitation centers for drug surrenderers.

He also said that the LCPO had already completed an unified/verified drugs watch list so that they could monitor drug personalities who were still engaged in this illegal activity./dbs
