Jaca floors opponent but loses by 7th round TKO

IT was a fight that could been won decisively. But Lady Luck frowned on ALA Boxing Gym’s reigning WBO oriental light welterweight champion Jimrex “Executioner” Jaca, who lost to Japanese Shinya Iwabuchi via seventh round technical knockout (TKO) Friday night at the Korakuen Hall, in Tokyo, Japan.
ALA Boxing Gym founder Antonio Aldeguer told CDN that Jaca was on the verge of scoring an easy victory after the Filipino fighter floored Iwabuchi in the second round of their 10-round non-title bout. Jaca, Aldeguer said, maintained his lead by landing accurate combinations in the succeeding rounds until he got caught by Iwabuchi’s vicious combinations.
With Jaca wobbling and on the verge of being knocked out under the Japanese’ relentless attacks, the referee was forced to stop the bout in the fateful seventh.
Jaca was accompanied in Japan by ALA Boxing Gym trainer Franklin Albia.
It was Jaca’s seventh loss with five coming by knockout. He has 39 wins, 22 knockouts and three draws. Jaca became popular when he valiantly fought Mexican boxing legend WBO welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez in 2006 in Texas, USA for the interim WBO featherweight title.
