CEBU CITY, Philippines – Following a shooting incident that resulted to the death of a policeman, the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) will be reviewing the security measures and policies of the building that houses Danao City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
“Atong reviewohon ang security measures unang una sa tanan. Mao na atong buhaton. Tanawon nato kung unsay ilahang current procedures ngadto,” said Superintendent Eloveo Marquez, public information officer of the CPPO.
(First of all, we will be reviewing the security measures of the trial court. That’s what we will do. We will be checking what are their current security procedures there.)

Senior Police Officer 2 Francis Allen Villamor was shot dead by still unidentified assailants in the lobby of Danao City RTC past Thursday noon, March 22, 2019. Danao RTC is housed in a building located within Danao City Hall’s compound.
“Ato sad suta-on nanung ingon ana naay nakasulod or nasudlan sila ug armado nga tawo,” he added.
(We will also be probing as to why an armed individual entered the court building.)

Initial investigations from the police showed that the gunman escaped the scene on board a white sedan.
Police are considering Villamor’s work, and accusations that the slain cop was allegedly involved in illegal drugs, as possible motive behind his murder.

Villamor, a former member of CPPO’s Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) but now assigned in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), was killed shortly after attending two court hearings at the Danao City RTC.
Danao City is a third-class city located 47.3 kilometers north of Cebu City. /bmjo
