LILOAN, Cebu, Philippines—The Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) under the leadership of Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio signed an Alliance Memorandum with local party, One Cebu led by Cebu Third District Representative and gubernatorial candidate, Gwendolyn Garcia.

Duterte said that the alliance between Davao-based HNP with One Cebu is a mutual support of each others’ candidates especially for the 13 “senatoriables” endorsed by HNP.

She said the One Cebu would carry the banner of HNP across the localities in hopes of securing the votes of over 3 million registered voters in Cebu province.

During the sortie at the Panphil Frasco gym in Liloan town, Cebu City, on Friday, March 22, Duterte showed ‘commitment’ to One Cebu by raising the hand of its standard bearer, Garcia, on the stage.

Duterte requested Garcia that since HNP could not afford to print campaign materials to be distributed in Cebu, One Cebu would print paraphernalia through their alliance, thereby providing exposure to the 13 sentorial candidates.

“Gov. (Garcia), limitado man gud ang resources sa HNP, pwede ikaw nalang magpaprint ana nya ibutang nalang ang mga ngalan sa atong senador?” Duterte asked Garcia after raising Garcia’s hand.

(Gov. (Garcia), our resources at HNP are limited, could your party be the ones to print the campaign paraphernalia that will include the names of our 13 senatorial candidates?)

Duterte said she believed that One Cebu had strong candidates who could influence the voters to also vote for the HNP senatorial candidates.

“Naa miy partners diri nga mopadayon og kampanya para sa HNP,” she said.

(We have partners here, who would continue to campaign for the HNP.)

The HNP endorses 13 candidates, namely:  Sonny Angara, Cynthia Villar, Koko Pimentel, JV Ejercito, Imee Marcos, Bong Go, Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla, Pia Cayetano, Bato dela Rosa, Zajid Mangudadatu, Francis Tolentino, and Jiggy Manicad./dbs
