Cebu City, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the legal counsel of the teen suspect in the Christine Lee Silawan slay case didn’t show up in the regional trial court on Friday morning, March 29, 2019 to tackle the charges in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The presiding judge, Honorable Ramon Daomilas, Jr., gave the NBI 10 days from March 29 to file their comment to the Omnibus Motion.

Lawyer Vincent Isles, legal counsel of the 17-year-old suspect, did show up but he was already a couple of minutes late from the scheduled hearing. He told CDN Digital that he respects the decision since it’s a part of due process.

“It was a correct order issued under these circumstances [because] even if I came early, I couldn’t do anything because the NBI was not there, they will still be given 10 days to answer,” he said.
“It would also be unfair on [the NBI’s] part for the honorable court to quash the warrant without them being given a chance to say why the warrant shouldn’t be quashed,” he added. /bmjo
