Drug personality’s ‘trusted aide,’ Jomar Labitad, killed in Buot Taup ambush

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 35-year-old man, whom police claimed to be a trusted aide of Jerome Labitad, a known drug personality in southern Cebu, was killed in an ambush on March 31 in Barangay Buot Taup, a mountain barangay in Cebu City.

Jomar Labitad of Barangay Campo 4 in Talisay City, died after he was shot in the chest by an unidentified gunman, who waylaid Labitad as he was heading home on his motorcycle, said Police Staff Sergeant Enrique Manulong of Mabolo Police Precinct.

Manulong said that according to initial investigation, that Jomar Labitad was riding a motorcycle, when he was waylaid by her assailants and shot dead.

The two assailants escaped through a waiting motorcycle.

Police officers said they were still investigating the shooting incident.| dbs
