Football tryouts for a spot in Cebu Elite U-15 team on

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) is holding a tryout for Under 15 Boys or those boys born in 2004 and 2005.

The tryouts will be on April 6, Saturday, 2 p.m. at the University of San Carlos (USC) Stadium in Barangay Talamban, this city.

According to CVFA staff Bryan Eborda, those selected in the tryout will be representing the Cebu Elite U15 team who will be seeing action in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U-15 Boys National Championship.

The national tournament which will be part of PFF’s talent identification program for the national team will kickoff this month and will run until September.

Each football association will be represented and will be clustered according to their regional areas.

The Cebu Elite U15 squad will compete under Group E and will be playing against the teams from Eastern Visayas, Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA), Negros Oriental Siquijor Regional Football Association (NOSIRFA) and Iloilo.

 There are a total of nine groups—A to I, spread all over the country and games will be played in a home and away format.

Although the CVFA has requested for 38 players coming from Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC), USC, Centre for International Education (CIE), Bohol Football Club (BFC), Abellana National School (ANS), Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Giuseppe Football Club (GFC), Samanthabadra, Talisay, Lahug and Bright Academy, to join the selection, the tryout is still open to anyone who is interested and not on the list.

Eborda said that the boys on the list are players who have represented the Cebu FA in previous regional and national tournaments.

Those requested to attend the tryout are DBTC’s Voughn Pacaña, John Carlos Vitualla, Gianrenzo Custado, Cyril John Calo, Simon Andrei del Campo, Kristian Mari Lusoc, Kamil Amirul, Carsten Pumareja and Ariel Estiola; USC’s Miguel Canoy; CIE’s Brandon Hunt; BFC’s Kobe Bendebel, Carl Canada, Frank Gemina and Joseph Puentenegra; ANS’ Addy Dumangcas and Mark Villarico; Ateneo’s Ralp Senining, Andrew Mandawe, Gustavo Larañaga, Stephen Lopez, Tyrone Niere, Karol Ybañez, Tristan de la Cruz, James Rufin, Jacob Almendras and Shin Nishimura; USPF’s Eugene Barbon, Wendell Soco, Bebong Lamparas, Quintin Sanchez, France del Rosario and Justine Soco; GFC’s Ryo Tokunaga; Samanthabadra’s Lindley Cueva; Talisay’s Karl Carin; Lahug’s Merick Baloria and Bright’s Zedrick Villamor. /dbs
