Mandaue faces off with Consolacion for 6th District crown in Governor’s Cup basketball

Cebu City, Philippines—Mandaue City emerged as the top seed in the 6th District after they trumped the Consolacion Sarok Weavers, 76-65, in the last game of the elimination round of the 2019 Governor’s Cup basketball tournament on Sunday, April 7, 2019, in Consolacion.

The two teams are set to meet for the district championship on Monday evening (April 8, 2019), with the winner bagging the whopping cash prize of P100,000. 

That game will be held at 6 p.m. at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Art Marco led Mandaue in scoring with 14 points while Kenneth Brillo put up 13 markers for the team of head coach Gary Cortes. Paul Sungahid added 11 points.

Mandaue’s win also completed the quarterfinal cast with Dumanjug, Danao City, Medellin, Balamban, Argao, Samboan and Mandaue City comprising Bracket A. Bracket B is composed of Tuburan, Sogod, Minglanilla, Alegria, Talisay City, Tabuelan and Consolacion.

The quarterfinal round begin on April 10, 2019, with six games slated at the Tuburan Municipal Gym. /bmjo
