Better quotient gives Mandaue, Consolacion q’final seats

Cebu City, Philippines — Mandaue City and the Consolacion Sarok Weavers made it to the quarterfinal round by the skin of teeth as they emerged with the better quotient scores at the end of the elimination round in the 6th District of the 2019 Governor’s Cup basketball tournament on Sunday.

Mandaue City thwarted Consolacion, 76-65, on the latter’s home floor on Sunday evening which resulted in a three-way tie between the two aforementioned squads and Cordova. All three toted identical 2-2 win-loss records.

After tournament officials finished their computations, it was determined that Mandaue City and Consolacion would be moving on with the former ending up with a score of 1.120 and the latter finishing second with 0.959. Cordova ended up in third with 0.935.

Mandaue and Consolacion are set to meet for the district championship on Monday evening (April 8, 2019), with the winner coming away with the whopping cash prize of P100,000. 

That game will be at 6 p.m. at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex. /bmjo
