CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) will have two backlog calendars of business to tackle once they will convene for their next regular session.

This is after the PB failed to hold their regular session for the second straight week today, April 8, because only 7 out of the 17 board members showed up at the legislative session hall.

Among those who were present were board members Raul Bacaltos from the first district, Edsel Galeos from the second district, Victoria Corominas-Toribio of the third district, Horacio Franco of the fourth district, Miguel Magpale and Jude Thaddeus Sybico of the fifth district and Provincial Sangguniang Kabataaan President Jerico Rubio.

Based on the records of the Office of the Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (OSSP), 8 of the 10 absent board members were on leave and official business (OB) status for today’s session.

In the first week of the campaign period last week, the PB also failed to hold a session with only seven members present as well.

Lawyer Pulchra Marie Acevedo, Secretary to the SP, however explained that the absent PB members could not be directly penalized since they had been allowed to enjoy their leave credits.

Acevedo added that a PB member might be penalized if he or she would commit three unjustified absences./dbs
