Cebu City, Philippines — Police in Danao City revealed that the 14-year-old girl who was murdered and dumped into a septic tank in a Danao City school had a ‘close relationship’ with the suspect of the brutal killing.
Based on the initial investigation, Police Senior Master Sergeant Marlon Remollo, the investigator on the case, said that they found out that the victim, Thesa Marie Ygay, had a close relationship with the suspect, security guard Jessie Montes Mediquillo.
Ygay was reported missing last Saturday, April 6, 2019, by her family, and was only found dead on Monday noon, April 8, 2019, inside a septic tank at the Cogon Cruz Intergrated School in Danao City.

Mediquillo worked as a guard for the school where Ygay’s body was found.
Witnesses accounts stated that Ygay was last seen on Friday, April 5, 2019, past 7 p.m. by the guard house with the suspect.
In a phone interview, Remollo said they found out that suspect was taking care of the school expenses of Ygay since 2012.

“Siya (the suspect) na ang ni sustento sa mga gamayng gastoonon sa pag eskwela, until such time nga nagka dako ang bata, murag nagka gusto pod siya ba,” Remollo said.
(The suspect was paying for some of the expenses in school until such time that the girl matured and he started to develop feelings.)
Remollo added that he was told by witnesses that the guard house is where Ygay and the suspect would usually meet up. He said the suspect would threaten to hurt Ygay’s family if she would not show up at the guard house.
Lieutenant Colonel Maribel Getigen, Danao City Police Station chief, said the suspect would reportedly display aggressive behavior every time Ygay roamed around without his permission.
“In fact, a blotter report was filed against the suspect last March 25 for shaving off [ the victim’s] hair,” said Getigan.
According to the police, the suspect and Ygay’s father are actually friends and reportedly knew about the “relationship.”
“Gi consider nalang pod sa amahan sa bata kay wa man siya’y tarong nga trabaho, unya iya amigo (the suspect) naa may tarong nga trabaho. Basin pa matagaan og maayong kaugmaon iya anak,” Remollo added.
“The father considered [the relationship] because he didn’t have a stable job, and his friend [suspect] had a stable job. He was thinking that maybe the girl would be given a good future.)
Remollo said that Mediquillo is still somewhere in Danao City. They are trying to coordinate with the family of the suspect to find leads on his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Getingan told Cebu Daily News Digital in a phone interview that bloodstains were found in the school’s guard house the morning Ygay went missing. /bmjo
