Cops arrest 4 drug suspecs in 2 separate Cebu operations

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Operatives of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office arrested four individuals in two separate buy-bust operations late evening of April 8, 2019 and
early morning of April 9, 2019.

At 11 p.m. of April 8, 2019, Samuel Jacalan, a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver, was found by members of the Guadalupe Police Station with shabu that has an estimated value of P34,000.

Captain Dexter Basirgo, chief of the Guadalupe Police Station, said they were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Marlon Jay Moneva of Regional Trial Court Branch 20.

Jacalan, a resident of Sitio Sambag in Barangay Guadalupe, denied that he owns the illegal drugs.

But he stopped talking when police told him that he has been under surveillance for quite some time.

Meanwhile, police also arrested three individuals in Sitio Bakilid, Barangay Quiot, who were found with P204,000 worth of illegal drugs at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

The buy-bust operation was conducted by the Labangon Police Station in the residence of Celso “Janjan” Enero, 30, who is in the list of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC).

Police also arrested Syrel Amora, 27, and Ronald Luste, 42, who were about to take their supply from Enero when the raid happened.

Major Keith Allen Andaya, chief of the Labangon Police Station, said they have been monitoring Enero for one week until they were able to confirm that he supplies shabu to certain people.

Andaya said he knows that Luste peddles illegal drugs supplied by Enero based on text message reports about him.  / celr
