CEBU CITY, Philippines – Police now has custody of a drug suspect who “confessed” to having killed Christine Lee Silawan.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said the suspect admitted to the killing the church collector after he was bothered by his conscience.
“Ang pagdakop niya ang buy-bust but along the way sa mga storya siya ra man ang ni volunteer” Radaza said during her regular press conference held this morning, April 10.
“Na konsensya siya kay naay laing nadakpan kay maoy napasanginlan feeling niya.”
In a live Facebook broadcast of her press conference this morning, Radaza said she received briefing of the suspect’s arrest early on Tuesday morning from Police Colonel Limuel Obon, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
“Ingon naa na silay bag-o nga suspect. Actually dili baya in line nga suspect siya for Christine. Ang pagdakop is all about drugs,” Radaza said.
The suspect, Radaza said, is more than 30-years-old, has a huge built, and is said to be on the police’s drugs watchlist. While he lives in Lapu-Lapu City, Radaza is uncertain if he is also a native of the city.

Radaza said that during the follow up investigation by the Lapu-Lapu City police, the suspect admitted to killing Silawan.
“All of a sudden ni confess siya kay na konsensya,” the mayor said.
Radaza said that she will have to wait for appropriate charges to be filed in court against the suspect to determine if he was indeed the culprit behind Silawan’s killing.
It will only be then that the city government will also decide on the release of the P1 million reward offer which they earlier made for the immediate arrest of Silawan’s killer.
“The money is still intact,” Radaza said.
