Another suspect in Silawan murder case now under police custody

(Updated) Bohol, Philippines — A 42-year-old man believed to be a suspect behind the gruesome killing of Christine Lee Silawan is now under the custody of the police. 

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), confirmed this in a press interview here at the Bohol Provincial Police Office on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

However, the police refused to divulge further details about the suspect, including his identity. 

“We have to coordinate first with the NBI -7 (National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas) on this,” added Sinas.

Sinas said the person of the interest made an extra-judicial confession before law enforcers when he was arrested in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

“He admitted on being obsessed with the victim that apparently prompted him to kill the victim,” added Sinas.

He said police identified the man after several witnesses corroborated closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages they gathered. /bmjo
