CEBU CITY, Philippines — A portion of a road in the City of Naga in southern Cebu would be closed for the different events of the 5150 Ironman Qualifying events on April 28.
Jonathan Tumulak, Cebu Provincial government’s focal person on traffic management, said this during press briefing on Monday, April 15, on the Kasayuran sa Kalambuan Forum in the Cebu Provincial Information Office,.
Tumulak said that the road starting from the boundary of the City of Naga in Barangay Inayagan until Barangay Tina-an would be temporarily closed for the three races in the event on that day.
He clarified however, that only the oceanside road (right, facing Cebu City) will be closed for the event.
“Giawhag nato nga walay mutabok anang mao nga dan (We are suggesting that nobody crosses the road),” Tumulak said.
According to Tumulak the professional competitors are the ones that will go first, and the average speed they make goes up to 30 – 40 kilometers per hour.
Tumulak suggested that the public watch out for the City of Naga to post their diversion routes for the closing of the road.
The 5150 Ironman race will happen on April 28, from five in the morning until noon.
Tumulak said that the roads wouold automatically be opened as soon as the race would be finished./dbs
