Cebu City, Philippines— Remember the frontman behind Junior Kilat’s famous songs Ako si M16, Buwad Suka Sili, and Original Sigbin?
The famous local reggae-rock singer Errol Marabiles, known to many as Budoy, is gearing up for a comeback.
“(Focused) sa Budoy solo project. Pahuway lang sa mi sa Junior Kilat for now,” Marabiles said.
(Focused more on the Budoy solo project. We’ll rest Junior Kilat for now.)
The 48-year-old artist told CDN Digital that he will be trying out new material in the electronic music genre with collaborations with some international artists.
“Doing some collaborations with artists from Hong Kong, Japan, Manila and the United Kingdom. Will release new materials.. solo” said Marabiles.
Budoy was born and raised in Samar. He fell in love with the Queen City of the South as it opened many doors of opportunity for him to become the artist that he is today.
He was the vocalist of the band Junior Kilat, which produced songs in the Visayan dialect.
The other songs made famous by Junior Kilat were K-Fyne, Budoy Ako, Katyubong, Lansyaw Gimadkaw, among others.
It was with Junior Kilat that Budoy rose to fame. His creative juices, talent and humor allowed him to be noticed around the country. In fact, he was included in the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity edition in 2006.
As the famous Budoy comes back, he will show that he is not than just a musical icon.
He said he will also highlight his skills as a visual artist.
Just last January, Budoy did an art exhibit show called “Tantric Sigbin,” where he showcased his mastery in visual arts.
His love and skills for visual arts, together with his ramen shop business, was what kept him busy while away from the music spotlight in Cebu. /bmjo
