CEBU CITY, Philippines — After the successful launch of the free Japanese language classes program, Cebu City Library now opens its doors for those who want to learn the Spanish language.
The enrolment for the free classes begins on April 22, and the one-month Spanish course will start on April 27.
The course covers Spanish conversational skills, basic grammar, pronunciation and cultural information.
“Due to our experience with the majority of online registrants not showing up, registration will have to be done in person,” Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena said in a Facebook post.

Forty slots will be given on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
“If demand is high enough, we can organize a second batch that can accommodate 70 students,” Mayor Osmena said.

Mayor Osmena also said yesterday, April 17, that 75 students had completed the 12-hour Introductory Japanese Language Class under Sensei Mae Joie.
“Seventy-five people no longer need subtitles for their anime. The backlog for the Japanese classes is almost done. Soon we will announce new schedules for those who are interested,” Mayor Osmena said in a Facebook post. /dbs
