Cebu City, Philippines—The organizers of Miss Mandaue 2019 revealed this year’s crown on a Facebook post on Tuesday dawn, May 7, 2019.

The crown is named “Golden Crown of Mandaue” since Mandaue City is celebrating its 50th or Golden Year.

“Tonight, a new queen will be crowned. Here is an #exclusive first look at the new Golden Crown of Mandaue,” the post reads.

Mark Anthony Tenchavez, the crown designer, told Cebu Daily News Digital that the crown is still inspired in Mandaue City’s economic zone.

But what makes the new crown interesting is that it now highlights the new Marcelo Fernan Bridge and Mandaue City logo.

Other details in the crown are inspired from the structure of the Mandaue City Hall, which includes wings that represent an angel that holds Mandaue City’s seal.

There are also swirls in the crown that symbolizes the diversity of Mandauehanons and women empowerment.

Before, the crown was only adorned with Swarovski crystals.

This year, the crown has Marjorica Champagne Pearls from Majorca, a Spanish Island, and opal semi-precious stones, which are Egyptian crystals from Dubai.

“They wanted to preserve its uniqueness. I designed the old crown and that is a challenge on my part,” Tenchavez told CDN Digital.

There are 16 candidates who are competing in Miss Mandaue 2019.

The candidates in this year’s roster are Lorraine Hann, Kristine Gillamac, Rhean Caruana, R-Jane Lugod, Angel Mae Dakay, Rica Mae Pitogo, Mitzi Lorraine Ambrad, Aijeleth Borja, Christine Rudolph, Umayma Al Rawahi, Julienne Dabon, Charlotte Stuck, Jesselle Saniel, Angeli Navarro, Karla Lasquite, and Amanda Basnillo.
