CEBU CITY, Philippines – While the police continue to investigate the motive behind the ambush of an ambulance owned by the municipality of San Fernando on May 6, police said that they will intensify the conduct of checkpoints in the area to make sure that the town will remain safe especially during Monday’s election.
But Police Colonel Manuel Abrugena, director of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), assured town residents that the ambush should not be a cause for fear because it was not election-related.

“Base po doon sa aming mga investigations, wala po naman kaming nakita,” said Abrugena.
(We did not see any cash or sample ballots during our investigation.)
Abrugena said they are yet to establish the motive of the ambush which happened at the vicinity of Barangay Inoburan, Naga City. /dcb
