Witnesses’ accounts at the spot report stated that the ambulance, which was southbound, was peppered with bullets by unidentified men on a white van. There were reportedly six men inside the van that followed the ambulance before blocking its way on the highway.

Witnesses in the area also said that the ambulance tried to back up when the perpetrators were firing at it. A yellow bus, which happened to pass by the area during the shooting, got in between the perpetrators and the ambulance, which gave the driver of the ambulance a chance to escape.

A security guard on duty at the area was the one who reported to the police the ambulance riddled with bullet holes.
