Brinnovid overcomes 22-point deficit to beat Boss Kalo in Metro Cebu hoops tourney

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Brinnovid came all the way back from a 22-point deficit and defeat Boss Kalo, 113-110, in the Metro Cebu Basketball League on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.

Brinnovid’s victory spoiled the incredible 61-point performance of Boss Kalo’s EJ Conahap, who made eight three-pointers and hauled down 17 rebounds in 33 minutes of action.

Down 14 at the start of the fourth, Brinnovid went on a furious four-minute run to take the lead, 86-85, after a three-pointer by Jojie Bas. The two teams went back and forth until Brinnovid pushed ahead by seven, 107-100, after free-throws by Christopher Obeso and Jonathan Adlawan with 45 seconds remaining.

Boss Kalo continued to fight and trimmed the deficit to three, 107-110, after the last of Conahap’s three-pointers, but Zarjoe Restauro made two free-throws with four seconds left to preserve the win for Brinnovid.

Six different players scored in double figures for Brinnovid led by the 19 of Obeso. Marsun Tabay added 16 while Jojie Bas and Joel Bensig had 15 markers each.

In other games, the Hotshots 5.0 beat Island Premium Paints, 84-81, behind the 21 points of Rex Tuazon. The 2nd Bridge Archers meanwhile, clobbered the Naughty Kings, 140-58, as Balgasmel Demape put up 35 points and 13 assists to go with eight rebounds.
