The Cebu City Council approved a P1.6 million budget to fund the travel expenses of the Lumad Basakanons to the Aliwan Festival in Pasay City scheduled on April 24 to 26.
The Basakanons attended this morning’s Cebu City Council session to wait for their approval of their budget request. Choreographer Dennis Navarro said the Basakanons will try to win this year’s Aliwan crown with their nature themed dance, a combination of their 2013 and 2014 Sinulog entry routines.
Winged dancers from their 2013 Sinulog dance will show the environmental destruction that affected the birds while Earth warriors of their Sinulog 2014 entry will be shown fighting for nature’s preservation.
