A 16-year-old member of a youth gang shot and wounded a 19-year-old man in Mandaue City.
The boy, who is a member of the Crips gang, admitted shooting Paulo Alinganga, a resident of barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City.
Alinganga is reportedly a member of the Bloods, a rival gang.
In admitting the shooting, the boy said he got back at the victim whom he accused of mauling him last week.
Police said Alinganga and his friends were eating ‘balut’ by the roadside when the boy on board a motorcycle driven by a friend arrived past 11 p.m. Tuesday.
SPO1 Edmundo Bilocura said the boy approached Alinganga and shot him hitting the victim’s left shoulder.
The boy went back to the motorcycle and fled.
The boy and driver of the motorcycle identified as Reggie Riveral were later arrested by police in a follow-up operation in Liloan town.
Riveral said he didn’t know that the boy planned to shoot Alinganga.
Riveral said the boy asked him to bring him to Mandaue City. He said the boy asked him to stop after catching sight of Alinganga’s group and was surprised when his companion fired a shot.
Police said a .38 revolver was recovered from the boy’s possession.
