Injury-stricken Adlawan to compete in FIM Asian Championships

YOUNG Cebuano dare devil Jon Eleazar Adlawan is set to defy the odds when he competes for Team Philippines in the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Asian Championships in Terengganu, Malaysia this weekend.
Adlawan will race in the first and second rounds of the Asian Championships and he will be doing so even with a fractured hip bone which he suffered during the second leg of the Man and Machine Supercross Series at the South Road Properties (SRP).
“I was advised to rest this injury for a period of time but I have to defy my doctor’s advises because it’s my duty to represent our country in this international race,” Adlawan said.
According to Adlawan, he still feels the pain but he has to bear with it. He said a prominent motocross team in Malaysia offered him to ride one of their bikes that’s why he seemed determined to compete in the pro class division against some of Asia’s best motocross riders.
Adlawan, who is backed by Kopiko Astig and Jela Construction, is set to leave for Malaysia today along with four other riders from Manila. He placed second in the pro open division of the Man and Machine Super Cross Series last month /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
