Echavez-Lopez, Lim win anew

IT WAS ANOTHER day in the office for Omega Pro Tri Team’s Lorhiz Echavez Lopez and Parklane Tri Team’s Kristiane Lim as they chalked up another win, dominating the Tri Team Championship Series on Sunday at the Sugar Beach Resort in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.
Lopez and Lim recently won in the National Age Group Triathlon last April 6 in Danao City. Yesterday, the two were in their usual deadly form as Lopez clocked two hours, 31 minutes and 12 seconds to win the women’s race while Lim finished in 2:04.31 to top the men’s side.
The race, which served as the kick off event for this year’s Bantayan Beach Games, featured a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40k bike and 10k run course.
Jorry Ycong defeated Lorhiz’ husband Mendel Lopez in the male category A while Team Shufa dominated the relay division.
Other winners were Mirian Joy Libre (female category D), Remedios Martinez (female category A), Robert Paul Martinez (male category D), Stefan Lee Cagulada (male category C) and Marlon Galo (male category B). Meanwhile, Louie Villacin and Jan Dennis Sinda topped the sprint distance female and male divisions, respectively. Villacin logged a time of 1:27.15 while Sinda finished in 1:13.32.
Miguel Angelo Flores emerged the fastest junior triathlete in the 13-15 years old by clocking 1:11.02 while Lorraine Hann joined him in the podium after she captured the first spot in the distaff side with a time of 1:01.47.
Nyko Archival topped the 9-10 years old category, Mya Torralba lorded the 9-10 years old female division, Xeemon Sage Villo Cuyos won in the 8-and-under, Dhexia Myle Bersabal placed first in the female division of the 8-and-under, and Nina Francesca Villaba placed first in the female 11-12 years old division. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G.
