Lancers bag third straight regional title in Coca-Cola PBA tilt with win over Bacolod

The Lancers are on their way back to the national stage as they captured their third straight regional title with a commanding 68-54 win over Bacolod in the Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars Visayas Regional Finals held over the weekend at the Iloilo Sports Complex in Iloilo City.
The Cebuanos appeared to be in trouble at the onset as they faced a 2-15 deficit barely four minutes into the match.
However, they quickly got their bearings in order to gain the upper hand, 22-18.
It was all Lancers from that point onwards with star forward Theo Joshua Flores punctuating the win by scoring nine of his 19 points in the final canto to hammer the final nail in their opponent’s coffin.
Flores also got plenty of help from running mate Orlan Wamar, who had 18 markers while Jifford Cahigas pitched in 14.
The win was the Lancers’ second in as many games in this tournament, giving them the regional title again.
Next up for the Cebuanos will be the national finals slated on May 17 to 25 in Manila.
Miguel Corteza briefly gave Bacolod a glimmer of hope in the third period, where he scored 10 of his game-high 22 points to cut the deficit to 10, 41-51. But the Lancers proved to be too much to handle down the stretch.
